There are lots of spooky activities for all ages this week and weekend! It's time to get your boo on!
The Egyptian Theater in Coos Bay has a week full of fun ghost and monster themed movies, including "Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein," "Dracula," and "Ghostbusters." Check out their website for a schedule.
If you dare, you can travel down to Brookings for The Circus of the Damned, the annual haunted house done by the Chetco Pelican Players. You can find it from 7-11 on Friday, Saturday, and Halloween nights at the corner of Highway 101 and Hoffeldt Lane. Go to their Facebook page for more information. It is recommended for ages 10 and older.
October 27 and 28 you can raise some money with your fear by taking part in SWOCC's Ghosts and Graveyards Tour. Participants will explore cemeteries and buildings filled with haunts, stories of haunts, myths, urban legends and history. The North Bend tour begins and ends at Little Theater On The Bay, and the Coos Bay tour begins and ends at Seven Devils Brewing. Both tours go from 5:30-7:30, are for ages 18 and older only.Proceeds benefit programs that help low-income and first-generation students get to college.
Friday, October 27 is Old Town's monthly Alive After Five with an Oktoberfest theme. In addition to later-than-usual shopping, be sure to stop by the new "Pumpkin Pavilion" near Bandon Brewing Company to paint a pumpkin that will join a display. There will also be a scavenger hunt as well as the good wine, food, art, and music you have come to expect! Get started with your wine and map at Bandon Brewing Company or Old Town Marketplace.
It's not exactly Halloween-themed, but while in a festive mood, be sure to catch the latest New Artists Production show at the Sprague Theatre, the locally written musical murder mystery/comedy, "The Audition." As with all of New Artists Production's plays, it's sure to be a blast as 22 talented youth get on stage to entertain the community!
Pacific View Assisted Living and Memory Care is holding aSpooktacular Carnival to Benefit the Coos County Animal Shelter on Monday, October 30. Expect a silent auction, children's and adults' costume contests, games, prizes, a cake walk, and, of course, candy! The entrance fee is a "needed item" for the shelter, one or more of the following: Purina hard cat and dog food, canned dog and cat food, treats, collars, leashes, pet toys, bleach, HE laundry detergent, dryer sheets, Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, pooper scoopers, and Advantage flea treatments. Proceeds benefit the Coos County Animal Shelter.
Kids of all ages are invited to trick-or-treat on Tuesday, October 31 in Old Town!
While in Old Town, head to WinterRiver Books for their 7th annual Halloween Book Reading, gifts, and a drawing. The spooky story begins at 4:00 on Halloween day.
